Know where the data lives
The public demo stores sample data in your browser. A downloaded backup is a snapshot, not automatic cloud storage or a continuously updated copy. Browser storage can be cleared, so it should not be your only copy of information you need.
The demo still expires after 15 seconds. These instructions explain the workflow for a guided walkthrough; they do not extend access or turn the demo into a production account.
Download a backup
- Open Settings in the organizer workspace.
- Find Backup and select Download Backup Now.
- Keep the downloaded JSON file somewhere you can find again. It contains the local demo’s events, participants, heats, volunteers and assignments, not only the currently selected event.
- Download a new snapshot after changes you want to preserve. An older file does not update itself.
Review before restoring
- Save a backup of the current local data before considering a replacement.
- In Settings → Restore from Backup, select Choose Backup File… and choose the intended JSON backup.
- Read the file preview and check that it contains the data you expect.
- Only confirm when you intend to replace all local demo storage. Restoration affects every local event, not just the selected one, and has no undo after confirmation.
If data seems to be missing
Check that you are using the same browser, site and sample session. Different RoxDesk subdomains and different browsers have separate storage. A downloaded results CSV is a results export, not a full JSON backup.
Settings → Finish Time Log → Load Log for Current Event provides a separate local record of recent timing actions. The log retains the most recent 1,000 actions and is not a replacement for a full backup or off-device storage.
When contacting support, describe the steps and browser you used. Do not email athlete contact lists, private demo links, passwords or backup files containing personal information.
